Oneforty, the Twitter appstore: invites
A couple of weeks ago via @catone (Josh Catone), we got to know the Oneforty project. Oneforty aims to be the iPhone appstore, the Nokia ovi, you name it, for Twitter. At this Twitter ‘appstore’, devs will have the chance to showcase (and market) their Twitter-based apps, and users will be able to find & search (or pay) apps, read reviews and write their own. Oneforty is driven by the ubertwitterer Laura Fitton (@pistachio) and the team behind. Right now is in private beta right, but we’ve got some invites (read below).
Oneforty tagline could be: The UNofficial Twitter appstore…Wondering what the Twitter guys are thinking about this, especially if -as Alex Payne claims in this slideshow- Twitter team could have similar project in the works, quoting from slide nr. 17: “primary goal: a better way to promote apps, organize and recommend apps to users, pull developer resourcers into one place”…If oneforty is successful, will Twitter guys still go that way or…are we here witnessing a smart move to become the next Summize?
Back to oneforty.com:
Devs can:
- Sign up and claim the apps a) by explaining what’s their work on the Twitter API, etc or b) by grabbing and pasting a snippet of code in their app server to validate ownership.
- Edit their app profile: add short/full descriptions, tags, snapshots and press mentions.
- Market their apps (by selling or getting donations).
Users can:
- Browse Twitter apps by categories, tags, etc.
- Suggest new apps (and wait for devs to claim them).
- Read other users reviews or write their own.
- Have a profile listing the apps they’re using.
- Donate to devs or purchase paid apps.
Some snapshots:
There are many things that could get improved, of course, in terms of user-generated content (such as enriching the review process, too basic at the moment) or from the point of view of claiming apps (check suggested features here).
Our toddling app got picked up for their rotating set of “featured” apps, which makes us
.
So, if you like Microplaza, why not writing your review or rating the app? Thanks a lot!
[Oops, I almost forgot the invite code! The code is: MP140]
